Melissa is a New England artist currently living on the seacoast of New Hampshire. She holds a BFA in painting from Rhode Island School of Design and spends her days working as a Creative Manager.
Her new collection is inspired by the enduring yet fleeting nature of pop culture. Trends come and go, are consumed and then tossed, like trash. Yet pop culture imagery can still elicit strong emotional responses years after a trend has faded. This collection combines nostalgic candy wrappers from Melissa's childhood–wrapper designs that had a specific impact on Melissa and her future in Graphic Design–with modern Millennial slang. Her work is primarily done in watercolor, acrylic or gouache on vellum or Bristol board. When she's not painting or designing, she can be found playing her cello in the Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra and gazing at any and all planes that happen to be flying overhead.
