Erin Gardner grew up in the Catskill Mountains of New York, where her appreciation and curiosity about the natural world began. She earned an MFA from the University of North Carolina with a focus in painting. It wasn't until after graduating that she learned about needle felting, an art form in which she is self-taught. Her formal training in painting continues to influence her practice as a sculptural fiber artist, as she renders animal and botanical forms in wool through color blending and layering. Erin currently lives in Central New York with her husband and two daughters.
