David Kiphuth began taking formal art lessons in 1958 at the age of 12 in New Haven, Connecticut with Yale Professor Emeritus of Painting Deane Keller, a leader of the Monuments Men in the recovery of art pilfered by the Nazis. He received an A.B.F.A. from Silvermine College of Art in New Canaan, Connecticut in 1969, and later a B.F.A. in 1974 from the University of Hartford Art School, where he majored in painting. He is devoted to rendering the natural world around him in drybrush watercolor, gouache and egg tempera. When not doing art he is also a professional musician and enjoys living in the woods of Eliot, Maine with his four hilarious cats.
